April 2005

This month ended my first term with Japanese group lessons. We ended the term with an outing to Kamakura, a very beautiful tourist area outside of Tokyo. Kamakura has many temples, shrines, and churches which I find interesting. We were told that many intellectuals live there, and they tend to be most interested in religions. I've since learned also that is the history of Japan. The intellectuals have always been most open to Christianity.

This week I began my second term of Japanese studies. My classmates are also missionaries. We're learning the nuances of the Japanese language, and they are MANY! What you don't say says a lot.
